Upper or Lower Blepharoplasty: Different Goals and Options
18.09.2026
Upper and lower blepharoplasty address different anatomy and are not interchangeable.
What needs assessment
Upper assessment includes skin excess, fat pads, brow position and symmetry. Lower assessment includes fat bulges, the lid-cheek junction, skin and lid tone.
How the method is selected
The operations may be separate or combined when both zones need correction. Planning should preserve the natural eye shape. Related procedure: blepharoplasty.
Limits and recovery
Swelling and bruising can occur after either method; recovery and risks depend on surgical extent.
FAQ
Can the method be chosen from photographs alone?
No. Photographs help with orientation but do not replace tissue examination and medical assessment.
Will everyone have the same result?
No. Anatomy, tissue quality, surgical extent and healing all matter.
This educational material does not replace an examination or individual consultation.
