Jowly cheeks and jawline
16.09.2026
“Jowly cheeks” describes local sagging along the jawline. A blurred oval may result from shifting fat compartments, ligament laxity, chin structure and neck changes—not skin alone.
What defines the jawline
Bone support, ligaments, balanced volume and elastic skin work together. They age at different rates, so the dominant cause must be identified.
What devices can achieve
Energy-based procedures may improve skin quality and provide modest tightening. They cannot reproduce surgery in major tissue descent or change skeletal support.
When injections help
Strategic correction of volume loss may improve balance. Directly filling a jowl can make the lower face heavier, so planning must include the whole face.
When non-surgical options are limited
With substantial deep-tissue descent, loose skin and neck change, a lower facelift may be more effective. A consultation does not commit a patient to surgery.
FAQ
Can RF lifting help?
It may improve skin quality in selected patients, but effect depends on the degree of descent.
Can the fat in jowls be dissolved?
Not every jowl is excess fat; inappropriate volume reduction may worsen laxity.
How is a method selected?
By assessing skin, deep tissues, chin, jaw, neck and the desired scale of change.
